Electrical contractors must carry out a commissioning inspection on every electrical system they build. This inspection includes visual checks, as well as various measuring and testing procedures to ascertain that the installations are correctly implemented and safe. The inspection takes place before the installations or their parts are commissioned. It is recorded in the form of a commission inspection report for the owner’s use.
As well as the contractor’s commission inspection, sites over 35 A must undergo a certification inspection by an authorised inspector and institution. The certification inspection ascertains that the contractor has carried out the appropriate commission inspection and ensures the safety of the electrical installations, for example, by making spot checks. The electrical contractor is responsible for ordering the certification inspection. The results of the completed inspection are recorded as an inspection certificate for both the owner of the electrical installations and the electrical contractor.
