Customer information concerning transfer of electricity contracts to Väre

Kymenlaakson Sähkö Oy and Väre Oy have agreed on an arrangement where all consumer and small business customers of Kymenlaakson Sähkö have been transferred to Väre on 1 January 2024. Large corporate sale customers are outside the arrangement and will remain customers of Kymenlaakson Sähkö for a fixed term. In the arrangement, KSOY has become a significant shareholder of Väre.

The arrangement will have no impact on the network service customer accounts of Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko.

The services of electricity network customers will remain unchanged, and KSOY will continue to manage their customer service and billing also in the future.

Our customers can rest assured, the terms of contract will remain unchanged

The sale and microgeneration contracts of KSOY’s customers will be transferred to Väre under the current terms of contract. This means that the electricity contract and the price and services agreed on it will continue completely unchanged until further notice, without any changes. This applies to both fixed-term contracts and contracts that are valid until further notice. No action is required from the customers.

KSOY will continue to serve customers until 29 February 2024

KSOY will manage the customer services and billing for the transferring electricity sale customers until 29 February 2024, after which the services and contracts will be managed by Väre.

Questions and answers for our customers

Contract

  • Your electricity sale contract will be transferred to Väre Oy.
  • Kymenlaakson Sähkö Oy and the energy service company Väre Oy have signed a contract on transferring the electricity sale customers of Kymenlaakson Sähkö Oy to Väre on 1 January 2024. In future, KSOY will focus its business operations on emission-free electricity production and high-quality electricity network services in Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko.
  • The electricity sale contracts will be transferred to Väre on 1 January 2024. Kymenlaakson Sähkö will manage the customer services and billing for transferring customers until 29 February 2024, after which the services and contracts will be managed by Väre. No action is required from the customers.
  • Your electricity sale contract is transferring to Väre with the terms of contract effective on 1 January 2024. This means that the electricity contract and the price and services agreed on it will continue completely unchanged until further notice, without any changes. This applies to both fixed-term contracts and contracts that are valid until further notice. No action is required from you with respect to this matter.
  • In matters concerning electricity sale contracts, you can contact the customer service of Kymenlaakson Sähkö until 29 February 2024 and after that the customer service of Väre.
  • A fixed-term contract is binding on both parties and valid until the agreed date in accordance with the confirmation and terms of contract. The fixed-term contracts of Kymenlaakson Sähkö will transfer to Väre on 1 January 2024 as such, with the effective prices and terms of contract. The contracts will continue as agreed until the end of the fixed term.
  • If your fixed-term electricity sale contract expires on or before 4 February 2024, you will receive a follow-on offer from Kymenlaakson Sähkö.
  • If your fixed-term electricity sale contract will expire on or after 5 February 2024, you will receive an offer on a new electricity contract from Väre.
  • The arrangement will have no impact on the network service customer accounts of Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko. The services of electricity network customers will remain unchanged, and KSOY will continue to manage the customer service and billing of its electricity network customers also in the future.

Billing

  • Kymenlaakson Sähkö will send a bill to the electricity sale customers until 29 February 2024. In terms of electricity sale, you will receive the final bill from Kymenlaakson Sähkö in March 2024. After that, you will receive the bills from Väre.
  • If you are a customer of Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko, the billing under your network service contract will continue as normal even after 1 March 2024.

In future, you will receive bills from two electricity companies.

  • If you currently only have an electricity sale contract with us, in future you will receive the electricity sale bills from Väre and the network service bills from your own distribution system operator.
  • If you currently only have an electricity network service contract with us, you will receive the bills from Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy and the bills concerning the electricity sale contract from your current electricity supplier.
  • If you currently have both the electricity sale and the electricity network service contract with us, you will receive bills concerning the electricity sale contract from Väre and bills concerning the network service contract from Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy.
  • If you currently only have an electricity network service contract with us, you will continue to receive the bills from Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy and the bills concerning the electricity sale contract from your current electricity supplier.
  • If you currently have both the electricity sale and the electricity network service contract with us, you will receive bills concerning the electricity sale contract from Väre and bills concerning the network service contract from Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy.

Moving house

  • When you move house, you will need an electricity sale contract and a network service contract in order to get your electricity connected. Both contracts are provided by the electricity supplier of your choice.
  • If your house move is relation to a property sale, you can manage the change of ownership of the electricity connection by notifying the customer service of Kymenlaakson Sähkö/Sähköverkko Oy either by calling 05 7780 500 or by submitting a message on the website form: https://www.ksoy.fi/en/customer-service/contact-us/.

Purchase contract for microgeneration

  • All purchase contracts for microgeneration of Kymenlaakson Sähkö will be automatically transferred to Väre. No action is required from the customers due to this change.
  • Väre will pay compensation for any excess production to the microgeneration customers in accordance with the billing frequency.
  • The contract concerning network output of microgeneration will continue with Kymenlaakson Sähköverkko Oy.
